Whether you are new to Rachel Carson Elementary or just to the PTA, we're glad you are here! RCES PTA is the best way to get involved in the education of our kids. Through the PTA, we — parents, teachers and community members — combine our skills, influence decisions made within the school and within the county cluster, and enjoy the feeling that comes from working together for the good of children in our community. Want to join us? Here are the steps we suggest:

#1 Register on this site

Having an account on this site allows you to find volunteer opportunities, purchase tickets for events (when available), learn about upcoming events and activities, and opt in or out of mailing lists (although we hope that you don't opt out). Signing up is free, and will make your life easier down the line!

#2 Join PTA

Becoming a PTA member gives parents a vote in decisions made within our school, and helps us to financially support our teachers, staff and students. We do not set a specific membership fee, but ask people to give as little or as much as they are able. We highly encourage parents to join!

See Why Join for more information about the benefits of a PTA membership.

#3 Follow us on Social Media

Our public Facebook page is the place to go to keep up to date on upcoming events and needs.

Our Twitter feed allows you to follow Principal Hammond, various teachers, county reps and resources

And coming this summer! Check out our new Private Facebook group, a safe, judgement-free area where parents can ask questions of the RCES community

#4 Volunteer

What better way to get to know the school than to help out! Whether you have 30 minutes or larger chunks of time, there is a place for you! Many of our RCES parent volunteers work full or part time. Opportunities range from:

In school: Room Parents, Art Enrichment Parents, Lunch Aides, classroom helpers

After hours: Event volunteers

At home projects: Box Tops, graphic design, mailings, etc.

Leadership roles within the PTA board or as an event chair or planning committee member

#5 Learn More

Check out our Back to School Guide, full of important info, ways to get involved, and Frequently Asked Questions. Then take a minute to get to know your RCES PTA Board & Chairs. Stop by our table at beginning of the year events to introduce yourself and ask questions.
